Days ago, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge granted Houston rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, a restraining order against Tory Lanez. This legal move was just the latest update in the ongoing saga that started back in 2020 when Lanez shot Megan in her foot. Now, DJ Akademiks is weighing in.

While Megan filed for a restraining order as a means to protect herself, the move brought in mixed reactions. Many people praised the “Savage” star for her courage to still face the traumatic situation, others felt differently. DJ Akademiks particularly felt like the restraining order wasn’t a good look for her career, calling the filing “horrific.”
“I really feel like Meg is doing some of the most horrific things for her career,” he said during a recent livestream. “I’m literally sitting here and watching Meg torch her own career where she’s saying things or constantly trying to recreate this like ‘victim’ aura that I don’t think people are going for.”
Meg continues to battle the artist in court, even alleging that Lanez enlisted others, including blogger Milagro Gramz, to help harass her online. During her emotional testimony at the restraining order hearing, the 29-year-old expressed her fears of being shot by Lanez again, despite him serving a ten-year prison sentence. This is another point that Akademiks is not completely sold on.
“She’s saying she fears Tory is going to shoot her again. I personally don’t think that’s what it is. I think Meg is tired of criticism. I think she wants to not be reminded of this incident, okay?… But everything she’s doing constantly reminds us and makes us feel like she was a liar.”
Akademiks also shared that he would like to interview Meg one-on-one, though it’s unlikely that will happen anytime soon.
