Al Roker is out of the hospital and feeling good. However, he won’t be joining the “Today” show just yet.
The weatherman virtually stopped by the Today show on Monday to give a quick health update referring to his recovery as a “tough slough.”
“It’s been the hardest one yet, and you know I’ve had my share of surgeries,” Roker said. “It gives you a profound sense of gratitude for this outpouring of prayers and thanks. I’m a very fortunate person.”
Roker was hospitalized for four weeks after a blood clot in his leg traveled to his lungs.
His “Today” colleagues visited him in the hospital, for which he was very thankful. He also described what it’s like during recovery.
“You lose a certain amount of muscle mass for every week you’re in the hospital, and I was in the hospital for four weeks,” he said. “It’s just a certain amount of weakness. I’m doing physical therapy every day and occupational therapy. I’ve got to just get my strength back.”
Roker also said he deals with a “number of issues” but feels good and strong.
The legendary weatherman’s wife, Deborah Roberts, took to Instagram to celebrate his recovery, captioning the post, “On this Thursday, we are beyond thankful for beautiful, caring family and friends and the power of a brilliant medical team.”
