Al Sharpton has come to Deion Sanders’ defense after his recent move from Jackson State University to the University of Colorado.
“I think that a lot of us had such pride in him being at an HBCU that we forget that people make personal decisions,” the civil rights activist told TMZ. “And they have the right to do that.”
Sanders’ announcement to leave the HBCU was met with many different reactions. But Sharpton isn’t here for the critics’ stance. He says he believes Sanders lived up to his job while at JSU–which included helping the team turn around for a Pac-12 program that he has little ties to.
“He’s moved on and I think that our job is to make sure that Jackson State and others continue at the same level,” Sharpton added.
