An Alabama judge has been removed from office after he was accused of racist and sexually inappropriate behavior.

According to AP, Judge Randy Jinks, 65, of Talladega County, was unanimously removed from his position last Friday for allegedly saying George Floyd  “got what he deserved.”

Jinks broke five judicial ethics rules, including failing to protect the court system’s integrity and independence.  According to court documents, Jinks dismissed the majority of the charges, blaming employees for misinterpreting jokes, and accusing them of eavesdropping.

A complaint was made against Jinks in March, alleging that he was watching and uploading sexually inappropriate movies and making comments about women’s appearance and anatomy.

Jinks also allegedly used the n-word and told a deputy clerk that Black people obtain benefits and welfare “because of the color of their skin” while referring to Black people and the Black Lives Matter movement.

According to the complaint, Jinks made multiple racial statements after Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police, including calling him “just another thug” and claiming “he pretty much got what he deserved.”

In addition, Jinks also made comments about the only Black employee in the probates office, stating “I seen that car. I can’t even — I’m the judge and I can’t even afford a Mercedes. What you doing, selling drugs?”

Under state law, Jinks was responsible for overseeing elections in Talladega County. He also dealt with wills and probate matters. He was elected for the first time in 2018 and took office the following year.
