An Alabama woman has been indicted on murder charges for the shooting death of her husband.
According to WKRG, 66-year-old Linda Doyle claimed self-defense when she shot her husband, James Doyle, 71, in July of 2019. She alleges that he stabbed her multiple times in the vagina and abdomen while she slept and that killing him was an act of self-defense.
Prosecutors believe that Doyle stabbed herself in an elaborate plot to kill her husband. It is unclear what led Foley Police to believe that James Doyle had been murdered by his wife. She was arrested last week at home, without incident.
Before the fatal incident, police had been called to the home several times for domestic violence claims. It is not clear if those reports of abuse were substantiated or if the claims were fraudulent.
Doyle is being held on a $100,000 bond, and if she can make bond, she would be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor and would have to remain within the state of Alabama.
