Singer and rising star Alantra sat down with the Baller Alert Show to share her inspiring story of transformation. From growing up in a small Georgia town to living overseas, working in the nightlife industry, and now making waves in music, Alantra’s journey is a testament to hustle, reinvention, and self-belief.
From Small-Town Georgia to a Global Mindset
Though many assume she’s from Atlanta, Alantra actually hails from the small town of Wrens, Georgia—so small, she jokes, “If you blink, you might miss it.” Raised in a military family, she spent time in England, Germany, and Japan, which gave her a cultured perspective and a love for diverse food.
When it comes to her taste in food, Alantra keeps it simple: if it’s good for the soul, she’s eating it. “I’ll try anything once,” she laughed, adding that her global upbringing expanded her palate.
Dancing, Bartending, and the Transition to Music
While Alantra is now fully focused on music, her journey to this point was anything but ordinary. Before stepping into the booth, she worked in the nightlife industry as a dancer and bartender, eventually managing a high-end restaurant. She explained that she initially got into dancing for financial reasons but quickly found herself in demand.
“I didn’t expect to be ‘that girl’ in the club,” she admitted, sharing how customers started coming specifically to see her. But her real reason for entering the industry was more personal. “Honestly, I did it out of spite,” she revealed. After discovering that her child’s father was involved with dancers, she thought, “You like strippers? I’m going to be a stripper.”
Despite the fast money, Alantra knew she wanted more. Transitioning to bartending, she learned the ins and outs of the restaurant business, which eventually led to a management position. “I’m always evolving,” she said. “You can’t be the same person today that you were five years ago.”
Breaking into Music
Alantra’s music career began in an unexpected way—through heartbreak. “I was going through a breakup and did a cover of a Tink song,” she recalled. A producer in Virginia saw it and encouraged her to get in the studio. After two years of hesitation, she finally took the leap.
The moment she stepped into the studio, she knew she had found her calling. “It felt therapeutic, like I was meant to be there,” she shared. Now, she’s fully committed to her music, proving to the world—and to herself—that she’s more than just her past.
Balancing Motherhood and the Grind
Beyond music, Alantra is a devoted mother to her six-year-old son, who’s already showing signs of star power. “He brings me a remote control like it’s a microphone and says, ‘When you start performing, you’re bringing me on stage, right?’” she laughed.
Juggling motherhood and a music career isn’t easy, but Alantra ensures her son understands the mission. “I let him know this is work, not just fun. Everything I do is for him.”
Single and Focused—But Burna Boy, Take Note!
When it comes to relationships, Alantra isn’t looking for distractions. “Music is my man right now,” she declared. While she’s open to love, she needs someone who understands the grind.
But if there’s one person who could catch her eye, it’s none other than Burna Boy. “That’s my celebrity crush,” she admitted with a smile. “What’s up, Burna Boy?”
Mental Health and Staying Grounded
Alantra also touched on the importance of mental health, revealing that she turns to music, prayer, and the gym to keep herself balanced. “I don’t say bad days anymore—I say bad moments,” she explained. “Crying it out, listening to gospel music, or just stepping away from people helps me reset.”
What’s Next for Alantra?
With her birthday coming up on Valentine’s Day, Alantra hinted that she might drop new music as a gift to her fans. “Instead of telling me happy birthday, stream my song!” she teased.
Her latest single, Super Power, is out now, and she’s ready to take her career to the next level. “I’ve got somewhere to go,” she said. “I’m focused, and I’m working.”
