Aldon Smith Signs With Oakland Raiders, Charged With Three Misdemeanors

The Raiders have just signed troubled linebacker Aldon Smith but that isn’t the only reason he’s making news today. 

Smith, who was released from the 49ers in August for DUI, hit and run and vandalism after drunkenly hitting a parked car while trying to park his own vehicle, further damaging it when trying to open his door, then leaving the scene. Aldon Smith apologized for “how it all turned out” but denied being the driver of the vehicle during the crash. 

Today it is being reported that Smith is facing three misdemeanor charges. He currently faces charges of DUI with prior conviction and refusal to submit to chemical test, hit-and-run and vandalism. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 6th. 

As of today, the charges don’t effect Smith’s eligibility to take the field right away. The timing is impeccable though.
