Alex Jones Ordered to Pay Nearly $1B to Sandy Hook Shooting Victims’ Families

A Connecticut jury has ordered Infowars host Alex Jones to pay $965 million to people who suffered from his false claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax.

The verdict handed down Wednesday is the second big judgment against the conspiracy theorist after he relentlessly promoted the lie that the December 2012 school shooting never happened and that the grieving families were paid actors.

The 15 plaintiffs included relatives of five children and three educators killed in the massacre and an FBI agent who was among the first responders to the scene. Back in August, a Texas jury also awarded nearly $50 million in punitive damages to the parents of another slain child.

Six teachers and twenty children were killed in the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting nearly a decade ago.

During the trial, families testified Jones’ lies led to harassment and threats by his supporters, who accused them of faking their own children’s deaths.
