Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz Master The Art Of Giving Each Other Space During Quarantine

Alicia Keys sat down with PEOPLE where she discussed how she and her hubby, Swizz Beatz are spending quarantine.

“So much of our life is spent traveling. Obviously, with the pandemic, we’re literally seeing each other every day,” the Grammy winner revealed. “We looked at each other the other day and were like, ‘So this is what it’s really like to be married.’ It was really funny.” However, the “Falling” star says that they are doing “really good” at giving one another their personal space despite the additional time together.

“I think one of the things we’re really good at is giving each other the space that we need,” Keys explained. “That’s not a hard thing for us. And even just being intuitive about what each other needs is also something that comes really fluid for us.” Nevertheless, she says that the two will also check in with one another to make sure that the other is good, calling the arrangement “a nice balance.”

During quarantine, she says that the family, which includes their children, 10-year-old Egypt and 6-year-old Genesis, has enjoyed more family dinners, bike rides, movies, and board games together.

“I really like to make Sundays the time that we can all be together and do things that’s not digitally attached.”

Above all else, Keys says that she encourages her entire family to do what brings them joy, making self-care a priority in the home.
