Alijah Arenas’ condition continues to improve rapidly, days after his serious car accident.
The 18-year-old has shown remarkable progress, with the ability to walk and talk following the crash of his Cybertruck last week. However, his journey to full recovery remains long, as his family reveals he is still dealing with severe smoke inhalation.
A representative for the Arenas and Govan families shared with TMZ Sports, “Although Alijah has shown significant improvement following the traumatic experience, he still has a long road to full recovery due to severe smoke inhalation.”
While he can now walk and speak with his parents, Laura Govan and Gilbert Arenas, by his side, Alijah remains hospitalized for further observation and testing. The families have asked for privacy and prayers during this critical time.
Alijah’s doctors believe high levels of carbon dioxide in his system indicate heavy smoke inhalation before good Samaritans rescued him from the mangled vehicle, which had wrapped around a tree. This highlights the severity of the accident and the fact that it could have had much worse consequences.
The crash occurred early Thursday morning when Alijah, driving his dad’s Tesla, hit a fire hydrant and a tree. Authorities believe speed was likely a factor, given the Cybertruck’s power. The Arenas and Govan families expressed their deep gratitude for the “outpouring of love and support” since the incident, as they continue to focus on Alijah’s recovery.
