Allen Iverson is celebrating a new achievement that has nothing to do with his legacy on the court. The NBA Hall of Famer revealed he has been sober for six months, calling it one of the greatest accomplishments of his life.

In a transparent sit-down with Maurice DuBois on CBS Mornings, Iverson opened up about his journey to sobriety while promoting his new memoir, “Misunderstood.” The 50-year-old basketball legend admitted that alcohol once played too large a role in his life, but stepping away from it has brought him clarity and peace he had not felt in years.
“One of my best decisions I have ever made in my life was to stop drinking,” Iverson shared. “When you get drunk, you are not how you usually are. The more and more I see it on other people, the more and more it make me happy about the decision.”
The former Philadelphia 76ers superstar added that his family, especially his wife Tawanna, has noticed a positive change.
“The more and more I see how the people around appreciate it, I love it,” he added.
In “Misunderstood,” Iverson revisits his incredible career and the controversies that came with it, from his unforgettable crossover against Michael Jordan to his 1993 high school arrest and his infamous “practice” press conference that became part of sports culture.
Now, six months sober and more self-aware, Iverson is focused on family and using his story to inspire others.
