Amanda Bynes is filing to end her nine-year conservatorship, and her parents are fully supportive of her decision.
Amanda’s lawyer David A. Esquibias says the former actress conservatorship was only temporary. Amanda was placed into conservatorship in 2013 after she experienced a slew of outlandish episodes. She was temporarily sent to a psychiatric hospital. However, her parents say she’s made significant progress in the last two years.
Amanda’s parents say that she has been working extremely hard and puts in a lot of effort to get better.
According to TMZ, Amanda has been attending AA and is 3 or 4 years sober. Through her meetings, Amanda has gained the necessary structure and support from the groups. She has also been doing well in school, making straight A’s in her classes at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. After graduating, Amanda says she has plans to develop her own fragrance and use fashion as a creative outlet. However, she has not mentioned anything about returning back to acting.
Amanda has her parents’ support on moving forward but clarifies that her filing wasn’t because of Britney Spears. Esquibias says Amanda planned to end the conservatorship long before the #FreeBritney movement. He adds that it’s purely coincidental that Britney’s conservatorship ended a few months before Amanda filed. In addition, Esquibias mentions that Amanda and her parents are on the same page while Britney and her family can’t see eye to eye.
