The 2025 Inauguration Ball is causing major waves in the hip-hop community, with several big names facing backlash for their performances.

One of the most surprising performances came from Nelly, who shocked fans by taking the stage despite his past criticism of Trump’s politics.
His decision pissed off Amanda Seales, who called him out as an “idiot” and accused him of being an opportunist during a recent Live.
“Black folks saying performing is not supporting the current president are idiots.” She said, “I’m not gonna be polite anymore about people being idiots. You’re an opportunist, you’re an idiot.”
Seales also pointed out what she sees as Nelly’s lack of awareness, saying, “He doesn’t know when to stay out of a topic he knows nothing about. I know when I don’t know what I’m talking about.”
Nelly isn’t the only one under fire. Snoop Dogg and other hip-hop figures who performed at the ball are also being called out for aligning themselves with the current administration.
Fans and critics are questioning why these artists, who previously opposed Trump’s policies, would choose to show up and perform.
For now, it seems the hip-hop community is divided on where to draw the line.
