Amar’e Stoudemire Addresses Recent Arrest And Battery Charge For Allegedly Punching Daughter

Over the weekend, former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

He has since made an Instagram post on the incident: “Over the last 24 hours, an incident at my family home led to my being charged with assaulting my daughter. It is an allegation based on a report that does not square with the facts,” the post begins.

He went on to say he is of Jewish faith and at the moment in time, it’s the celebration of Hanukkah. He then references his belief when it comes to fighting wickedness.

“I believe that ‘whatever is hateful to you, do not do to others.”

He then addresses that night in question, saying, “as the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allegations to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds.”

“I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, particularly my children. I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy,” he ended.

Authorities went out to his Miami condo on Saturday night. Stoudemire, 40, was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching one of his teenage daughters in the face.

His bond was set at $1,500.
