Amazon & Grubhub Join Forces To Bring Prime Members Fee-Less Food Deliveries

Amazon and Grubhub have teamed up, allowing customers the ability to order food directly from their Prime accounts.

What makes the move even sweeter is that Prime members will not have to pay delivery fees as long as their order is at least $12. Users will need to sign up for Grubhub+ and ensure they have a Prime account to take advantage of the integration.

Under the new agreement, Amazon secured a 2% stake in Grubhub, as its parent company, Just Eat Takeaway, continues to explore possibly selling the struggling food delivery service. If the partnership is a success, Amazon may look to purchase the company.

As restaurants reopened following the initial onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, food delivery apps have seen less traction. With many people returning to takeout and in-person dining, the need for delivery services has slowed.

Grubhub CEO Adam DeWitt is optimistic about the new deal and hopes it will show Amazon Prime users the value of the food delivery service.

“Amazon has redefined convenience with Prime, and we’re confident this offering will expose many new diners to the value of Grubhub+ while driving more business to our restaurant partners and drivers,” DeWitt shared in a statement.
