Amazon and NFL Partner to Air First “Black Friday” Football Game

Amazon and NFL will make history today with its first “Black Friday”  game that will be streamed exclusively on Prime Video. The New York Jets will host the Miami Dolphins in a crucial AFC East matchup, potentially carrying significant playoff implications.

Amazon, having previously secured an impressive 11-year NFL Thursday Night Football deal valued at $1 billion, is taking it up a notch with this latest move. For this special Black Friday occasion, the streaming giant is making the game available for free as part of an exclusive deal.  This means that regardless of whether you’re a Prime Video subscriber or not, everyone can tune in and enjoy the thrilling contest between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets without any subscription requirements.

This strategic move not only amplifies Amazon’s presence in the world of sports streaming but also emphasizes the company’s commitment to making premium sports content accessible to a broader audience, though many argue this is yet another blow to traditional television.

The New York Jets’ schedule will become a lot friendlier after this week. With a big win at home this week, they could possibly win back-to-back games to get above .500. On the other side, the Dolphins, near double-digit favorites, aim to solidify their position as formidable contenders in this high-stakes matchup.

Notably, this Black Friday game carries historical significance, marking the first NFL game on a Friday in nearly six decades outside of holiday traditions.  Originally, this game was slated as a showdown between Aaron Rogers and the high-powered Miami offense. Injuries suck, however, the game should be competitive and make history.

Watch the showdown at 3 p.m. ET.
