Much like their fellow tech giants, Facebook, Apple, Google, and Twitter, it looks like Amazon is the latest tech giant to play it safe amid the Delta variant surge of COVID-19.
The company has pushed back its return date for corporate employees by nearly 4 months. Originally set to return September 7, 2021, corporate employees will now work remotely until January 3, 2022.
“We will continue to follow local government guidance and work closely with leading medical healthcare professionals, gathering their advice and recommendations as we go forward to ensure our workspaces are optimized for the safety of our teams,” Amazon said in a recent statement.
While Amazon has yet to mandate vaccines for its employees, corporate employees will be required to show proof of vaccination upon their return or mask up.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s warehouse workers are still hard at work and not required to wear a mask if they have been fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated workers must still wear a mask.
