According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Upload’ has been picked up for another season. The digital series is by the creator of The Office, Greg Daniels.
The series has a futuristic premise, set in 2033, where people can upload their consciousness into a simulated afterlife when they pass away. The main character Nathan (Robbie Amell), suffered serious injuries in a self-driving car accident and rushingly decided to upload his consciousness to a virtual afterlife that is the luxurious lifestyle of his girlfriend Ingrid’s (Allegra Edwards) family. Nathan then develops a close relationship with a customer service “angel” named Nora, played by Andy Allo, who is designated to keep watch over him.
“I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world,” stated Daniels. “With this news, I can stop drawing my season two flipbook.”
Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke added, “In Upload, Greg Daniels delivered a smart, cinematic comedy crackling with intrigue, and it has clearly delighted our customers who have spent a lot of time in Lakeview this past week. We know our global fans want to see the next chapter with Nathan and Nora, so we are greenlighting season two and are excited that Greg’s passion project has found such a devoted audience.”
Upload also features stars Kevin Bigley and Zainab Johnson. The series is executively produced by Daniels and Howard Klein.
