Peter Rosenberg and Complex took a trip to the home of Amber Rose for a candid and personal interview for Complex’s LateNight show, where she talked about opening doors for previous strippers like Blac Chyna to be acknowledged in mainstream culture, as well as her current love life with Monte Morris and getting #NickiMinaj on Kanye’s Monster track.
During a segment of the interview, Peter mentions that her humble beginnings are comparable to other famous former strippers. Amber stated that is “dope” to see any woman come up the way that she did. She said, “It’s dope to see people embrace it. Because when I came out, they didn’t embrace me very well.” She ends by saying, “I’m happy that I took the punches and I continued to flourish, so they really don’t have to.”
When asked about her change in current romantic choices, she stated, “I had to go see a therapist who said ‘You attract narcissistic sociopaths’ and I’m not mentioning no names – this isn’t every boyfriend I’ve had or anything, but a few of them have been that. Now I see that.” She went on to say, “I’m not doing that. You’re not going to control my every move, tell me what I need to wear, not going to tell me where to go and who to be friends with. I don’t have time for that sh*t.”
The conversation switched gears when she discussed her Rosenberg titled “relaxed, positive, healthy vibe” relationship with #NBA star Monte Morris. “Monte is very normal. I’m very normal. He’s from Flint, Michigan. He’s an amazing guy, comes from a good family. He loves his mama, he loves my son. He loves me, he’s like my best friend. We just have fun together and that’s what I felt like I always needed, but I felt like I had to go through what I had to go through in order to accept that healthy love into my life.”
Amber also talked about how she convinced #KanyeWest to add Nicki to his song Monster. “I believed in Nicki from the beginning! I was with Kanye at the time and said you gotta give her a shot, she’s amazing and really dope. He’s like, “Unhhhh.” I’m like please she’s my friend, she’s dope. He was like, “Alright.” He tried it out and he put her on ‘Monster’ and said, “Damn, she f**king killed that sh*t!”
Great call, Amber!
