On Tuesday, the ever-controversial #RoseanneBarr fired off a racist tweet about the former adviser to Forever President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarret. Since then, the comedian has come up with several excuses as to why she made the statement that led to the cancellation of her “Roseanne” reboot.

“It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting – it was memorial day,” she wrote. “I honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian – ignorant of me for sure, but…I did.” Although she was eventually apologetic, she began to spiral as the backlash persisted.

“I feel bad for POTUS – he goes thru this every single day,” she wrote, in between retweeting tweets in her defense, before eventually coming to terms with the consequences of her actions, “I’m not getting my job back, genius – it’s gone and so r all my old shows.”

But now, in the wake of the comedian’s attempt to rectify the situation, Ambien, the sleep medication brand that Barr blamed for her racist tweet, has fired back at the comedian over her claims.

“People of all races, religions, and nationalities work at Sanofi (the pharmaceutical company that Ambien is sold under) every day to improve the lives of people around the world,” a rep for the medication said. “While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.”
