With the COVID-19 pandemic still plaguing the world, companies everywhere have had to find innovative ways to stay afloat. Cinema giant AMC Entertainment is no exception. The company has officially launched private theater rentals following an initial test program, which garnered a promising 110,000 inquiries from moviegoers.
“The results and feedback from our guests about AMC Safe & Clean have been overwhelmingly positive, and private theatre rentals at AMC provides an additional layer of safety and security to those moviegoers who are looking to see movies with just their family members and friends,” AMC chief content officer Elizabeth Frank announced in a statement.
People can begin reserving the private theater rentals at any of AMC’s 600 theaters via an automated system on their website and mobile app. The rentals, which start at $99, can accommodate up to 20 people, with guests selecting the movie of their choice and preferred showtime. New movie releases will be a bit pricier, with costs ranging between $149 and $349 depending on the location.
The movie industry has taken a major hit from the coronavirus outbreak, forcing many theaters to close their doors for good as production studios opt for Video On Demand movie releases.
