Authorities quickly halted all takeoffs and landings at Reagan Airport as emergency crews rushed to the scene. “All takeoffs and landings have been halted at DCA. Emergency personnel are responding to an aircraft incident on the airfield. The terminal remains open. Will update,” the airport announced.
American Airlines Flight 5342 had departed from Wichita, Kansas, and was approaching Reagan when the collision occurred. Details on casualties or damage have yet to be released, but officials are investigating how the crash happened and whether air traffic control had any warning signs.
