Amy Luciani is setting the record straight. Days after filing for divorce from Dwight Howard, she addressed the rumors head-on in a post early Wednesday morning, making it clear that she’s not after his money.
“With such a private moment like a marriage ending, I really do want to keep a lot private, but it’s hard to watch this narrative spreading quickly about me,” she wrote. “I plan on speaking on this one time only. I, til this day, have never asked him for a single dollar. Not 30 cents.”
She went on to say that she was the one who brought up a prenup before they got married.
“I text it right to him. I told him I want to sign a prenupt because I believe what you worked for is yours, and I’m not the type of woman to take what’s not mine. I mentioned a prenupt first!! He declined.”
Amy continued, “I do not want any of his assets. I do not want half of anything that he earned or obtained before me. Not a car, not his properties, not a business. These rumors do not align with my character. Believe it or not, some of us women really date or marry for love.”
She captioned the post, “The value I add cannot be bought. I rather build the empire with you. You ever met a gold digger who went her entire relationship without asking for a penny & asked for a prenuptial agreement & doesn’t want any part of his assets when it ends? Oh, okay. I won’t bother asking for privacy. This is the internet, so I’ll accept the good with the bad. Right now is just a bad moment, but God oversees it all, and this too shall pass.”
Amy filed for divorce in Georgia on July 1, citing that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” She asked the court to divide their shared assets fairly and requested alimony, but her latest statement suggests she has no interest in taking anything that doesn’t belong to her.
Dwight hasn’t publicly commented on the filing, though he did confirm the marriage last month on “The Breakfast Club.”
When asked if he and Amy were married, he simply said, “We are.” He explained that he prefers to keep his personal life off the internet, saying, “There’s always some rumors, but I just keep that side of my life private so everybody ain’t got nothing to say. Keep that private and keep it moving.”
Before marrying Amy, Dwight had a well-known and turbulent relationship with Royce Reed, the mother of his son Braylon. When Dwight announced his engagement to Amy last year, Royce accused him of abusing both her and their son on social media.
As of now, Dwight has stayed quiet. But Amy has made it clear that the story being told online doesn’t reflect the truth.
