It’s a wrap for Carrie Bradshaw and the ladies.
HBO Max has officially confirmed that And Just Like That…—the follow-up series to Sex and the City—will end after its third season. Showrunner Michael Patrick King broke the news, revealing that while crafting the final episode, it became clear this was the right time to close the book.
“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” King said in a statement.
The third and final season will now include 12 episodes instead of the original 10, with a two-part series finale airing August 7 and August 14 on HBO Max. King said the team waited to announce the ending so fans could enjoy the season without the cloud of “final” hanging over it.
For longtime fans, this moment is bittersweet. Sarah Jessica Parker, who’s embodied the iconic role of Carrie Bradshaw for 27 years, marked the end of her journey with a heartfelt message on social media. She called it “a chapter complete” and thanked fans for staying on the ride.
Kristin Davis (Charlotte) also reflected on the show’s conclusion, admitting she’s not ready to say goodbye. Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), who helped guide the reboot as both star and director, has yet to publicly speak on the final season.
Despite its massive cultural impact, And Just Like That… has been polarizing. While the original Sex and the City series is remembered for redefining female-led television, the reboot struggled to capture the same spark. Fans criticized its tone shift, character arcs, and loss of Carrie’s signature narration. Viewership dropped significantly after Season 1, but HBO continued with two more seasons before finally pulling the plug.
Whether you loved it or hated it, And Just Like That… gave closure to a story that’s spanned over two decades. And for the millions who grew up with Carrie’s column, closet, and complicated love life, the final episodes mark the end of an era.
The finale episodes drop August 7 and August 14.
Time to light a candle, pour a Cosmo, and say goodbye… one last time.
