Andrew Tate and his brother are suing a Florida woman for falsely accusing them of imprisoning her in Romania, which ultimately resulted in their arrest.
The former kickboxer and his brother Tristan filed the suit in Palm Beach County against a Florida woman, her parents, a resident of their Bucharest estate, and a male friend. They’re seeking a minimum of $5 million in damages.
According to the Tate’s, the five plotted to falsely accuse them of rape and human trafficking, costing them their freedom and millions of dollars in revenue from their successful podcasting, social media, and business ventures.
Since the woman and her parents are listed as residents of Palm Beach County, the complaint was registered there on Tuesday.
In December, The Tate’s were arrested by Romanian authorities and were recently indicted last month. The charges accuse them of forcing seven victims into pornography and subjecting them to physical violence. They are currently under house arrest in Romania.
The Tate’s Attorneys, Thomas Maniotis and Joseph D. McBride, claim in their lawsuit that the Tates are the actual victims in this case, pointing to the Florida woman as the culprit.
They say she is a “professional con artist” who pursued a sexual relationship with Tristan Tate in order to relocate to Romania. Allegedly, when her fraudulent intentions didn’t work, she conspired with others to fabricate false statements that led to their arrests by Romanian and U.S. embassy authorities.
“At no point did the Tate brothers engage in human trafficking,” the lawsuit says. The attorneys say the woman “is a serial liar, manipulator and schemer who exploits vulnerable, often wealthy men with good intentions for sexual, financial and emotional profit.”
To protect the alleged sexual assault victim’s identity, the woman and her parents remain unnamed by The Associated Press.
According to the indictment by Romanian investigators, the Tates, along with two Romanian women, allegedly established a criminal organization in 2021 to engage in human trafficking across Romania, the United States, and Britain.
Since then, several other women in Britain have initiated civil claims against Andrew Tate, accusing him of perpetrating sexual violence against them.
