Andy Cohen is still slapping his forehead over the missed opportunity to sit down with Megan Markle.
Before Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry and her title as the Duchess of Sussex, she was deep into her acting career, which included her role as Rachel Zane on USA Network’s drama Suits.
During that time, she was pitched as a guest on Cohen’s late-night Bravo show, Watch What Happens Live.
“It was when she was on Suits,” Cohen, 55, explained during Saturday’s “Ask Andy” panel at BravoCon 2023. “I didn’t watch Suits. And I guess she was pitched and we passed, and as my executive producer said, ‘You really never know who is going to become a duchess.'”
Moderator Rachel Lindsay asked the late-night show host if there were any other stars he’d turned down. Cohen replied, “I don’t know, but we’re going to find out. When I think there could be clips of Meghan Markle kiki-ing with me, doing a shot, and talking about Vicki Gunvalson? I want to kill myself.”
When asked what he thinks about Markle doing the show now, he said, “I don’t think so, I think she’s kind of done with it. You know what by the way? I don’t blame her. ‘You passed on me then, you want me now?’ No.”
“It always seemed like a fake show to me,” Cohen also admitted that he wasn’t into the show, which has now had a large viewing on Netflix. “I don’t know why. It’s shot in Canada, is it a parody of a show? Is it shot on green screens? I don’t know… Justice for Suits, I guess.”
Markle starred in the legal drama from 2011 to 2018. She met Prince Harry in 2016 and announced their engagement the following year. The seventh season of Suits was Markle’s last. The show went on to film for two more seasons.
