Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is officially one of the faces of NBA 2K26, scoring the cover of the WNBA Edition and setting off a fresh wave of debate in women’s basketball.
NBA 2K general manager Zak Armitage explained the decision to go with Reese, telling TMZ Sports, “NBA 2K26 is celebrating the bold, the confident, and the visionaries, and WNBA All-Star Angel Reese carries all that on and off the court.” He added, “In her sophomore year in the WNBA, Angel Reese has made waves, created impactful conversations, and inspired the next generation. She’s a storyteller and has helped the WNBA grow its audience.”
Armitage also praised Reese for making her mark “on the biggest stages, including in gaming,” calling it an honor to welcome her to the 2K family.
With Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony securing the “Superstar Edition” and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander landing the standard cover, Reese’s selection is being seen by many as another flashpoint in the ongoing discourse about star power in the WNBA. Additionally, she is rocking her signature Reebok shoe on the cover, making the moment even more iconic.
Reese has always been vocal about her impact. “It’s not just because of one person,” she said in June 2024, referring to the league’s rising popularity. “It’s because of me, too, and I want you to realize that.”
Her rise began with LSU’s 2023 NCAA Championship win, where her viral taunt stirred headlines — and ever since, her presence has sparked conversation across the sport.
Of course we do everything BIG. Why not debut my signature shoe on the cover of NBA2K ?!?!🙂↔️ https://t.co/pLZprHT33a
