It’s only been a week since Shaquille O’Neal took over as the new president of basketball operations at Reebok, and he’s already making major moves with Angel Reese.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the LSU star was signing an NIL deal with Reebok that is reportedly worth millions. Under the new multi-year partnership, Reese will be seen in the company’s forthcoming campaigns. Reese, known as the “Bayou Barbie,” led LSU to its NCAA basketball championship, a first for both the male and female teams.
“I am honored to be working closely with one of my longtime mentors, Shaq, along with a brand that I have admired since I was just a little kid,” Reese shared in a statement. She also shared the first-look images from the collaboration on her Instagram.
O’Neal also praised Reese, who he believes is the perfect woman for the job.
“For my first appointment in this role, it had to be the GOAT. There is no one making a bigger impact on the game right now than Angel Reese,” O’Neal stated.
Reebok released a statement as well, detailing that the 21-year-old will be “positioned at the forefront of Reebok lifestyle, fashion and performance product stories.” This latest signing is a huge feat for Reese, who already has NIL deals with Coach, Wingstop, Raising Canes, and Amazon, to name a few. Reese is one of the highest-earning college athletes, USA Today confirms. While she is expected to join the WNBA draft at some point, Reese has previously shared she is taking her time.
“I am in no rush to go to the league. The money I’m making is more than some of the people that are in the league that might be top players,” she told the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast in April 2023.
It looks like she was right. Congratulations Angel Reese!
