This year’s Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards will exclusively premiere on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
OWN viewers will have an opportunity to witness this stunning showcase, highlighting Black women’s contributions to the entertainment industry. The 17th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards will take place on Thursday, March 7th, and will be held at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
The 90-minute broadcast promises an evening filled with talent and empowerment. The program will kick off with the star-studded red carpet event before the show begins, which will see many of our favs arriving and give a first look at one of the most highly anticipated components: the fashions. When the award ceremony begins, the night will shift to celebrating this year’s honorees, each of which represents a diverse range of talent and victories within film and television.
Among the distinguished awardees are Academy Award-nominated actress Danielle Brooks, Grammy Award-nominated vocalist and “Little Mermaid” star Halle Bailey, “All American” showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll, and Kathryn Busby, the President of Original Programming for STARZ. These women have excelled in their respective fields and played pivotal roles in reshaping the narrative of what it means to be a Black woman in Hollywood.
Wu-Tang rapper and “Power Book II: Ghost” star Method Man will serve as host for the ceremony, which will air on March 15th at 9:00 p.m. Viewers will also have a chance to stream the awards on Max.
