Another lawsuit brought against Sean “Diddy” Combs has been dismissed, this time due to the plaintiff’s failure to comply with a court order.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman closed the case Doe v. Combs, filed by an anonymous woman who accused the music mogul and others of assault during a 1995 party in New York City. In earlier filings, her attorneys had requested she be allowed to move forward anonymously, citing safety and privacy concerns.
But Judge Liman ruled that the “serious nature” of the accusations demanded public accountability and denied the request. He gave the plaintiff until March 20 to refile under her real name. When she failed to meet that deadline—and didn’t request an extension—the court dismissed the case and terminated all pending motions.
This marks the second lawsuit brought by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee and New York co-counsel Antigone Curis against Combs to be tossed out in full.
Combs’ legal team responded swiftly, calling the dismissal a reflection of what’s to come. “This is now the second case brought by these attorneys against Mr. Combs that has been dismissed in its entirety. It will not be the last,” they said in a statement. “For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by attorneys more focused on media headlines than legal merit.”
While today’s dismissal is a legal win for Combs, his legal troubles are far from over. He remains incarcerated in Brooklyn, facing serious federal charges that include racketeering and sex trafficking. Just last week, another judge dismissed five charges in a separate $30 million sexual assault lawsuit, but allowed several other claims to proceed.
