Popeyes is adding another new chicken sandwich to its menu before the year is over.
The Popeyes Blackened Chicken sandwich is now available for $4.99.
Surprisingly, the new hand-battered chicken sandwich is completely breaded-free.
When preparing, the chicken is marinated for over 12 hours in cajun and creole seasoning. The chicken is then placed on brioche bread along with pickles. Customers can choose between original mayo or spicy mayo for an additional kick.
According to a release, the Popeyes culinary team took four years to develop this “version of the classic Blackening cooking technique, which originated in Louisiana and is used to better seal in seasoning and spices to flavor the meat.”
This past summer, Popeyes introduced a limited-edition buffalo ranch chicken sandwich as another variation of the traditional sandwich.
