Dear White People, stop calling the police on innocent Black people. Thank you, Management.
On Thursday, a property manager lost her job after she phoned officials to report a black man in a Memphis community pool –with socks.
According to USA Today, the incident occurred on the 4th of July, as Camry Porter, her boyfriend and her two godchildren were enjoying the community pool at the Riverset Apartments. However, the family’s fun was cut short when Porter noticed a woman “constantly watching us and whispering amongst her friends.”
Moments later, the woman, who identified herself as the property manager, approached the couple and demanded the boyfriend remove his socks.

After a short exchange, Porter said she intervened to inquire about the issue at hand, to which the woman, who has since been identified as Erica Walker, said the man had been violating the “no socks, tshirts, hats,” rule by “dangling his feet in the water with socks on.”

At the time, according to Porter, several other people were in violation of the same rule, but of course, Walker only approached one – the only black man in the pool area.

Shortly after the dispute, which was recorded and later posted on Facebook, Porter asked Walker to confirm her identity. That’s when Walker attempted to kick the family out of the pool. When Porter refused, Walker phoned officials. Upon arrival of the officers, the family decided to leave, but the post went viral, sparking outrage.

As a result, Pool Patrol Paula was fired.

“It was a very embarrassing and very hurtful and horrible incident,” Porter told reports. “She has a family I’m sure she has to provide for, so I’m not going to say, ‘Yay. I’m glad she’s gotten fired,’ but I do believe she deserves some consequences after her actions.”
