A knock out battle over who has the best fried chicken sandwich is in full effect, and Black Twitter seems to be at the forefront.
It all started last week when Popeyes released a new chicken sandwich nationwide. Black Twitter waisted no time by hopping online to compare it to Chick-fil-A’s popular fried chicken sandwich.
However, tensions flared on Monday when Chick-fil-A joined in, by tweeting “Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the [heart emoji] for the original.”
Twitter users couldn’t wait for Popeyes to put on their boxing gloves. In fact, the chicken chain responded a couple hours later, writing, “…y’all good?”
Since then, Twitter has been flooded with opinions on which sandwich was better and other fast-food giants like Wendy’s and Bojangles have also joined in. Wendy’s tweeted, “Y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich,” while Bojangles was shamed into deleting their promotional photo.
However, once again, Popeyes was quick with a retweet response, saying “Sounds like someone just ate one of our biscuits. Cause y’all looking thirsty.”
