More than 230 people were arrested during Operation “K.O.,” a multi-agency effort to reduce gang activity in the Omaha, Nebraska area.
According to a news release, the four-month operation was led by the U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force. Operation “K.O.” led to the arrest of 144 gang members.
“During Operation K.O., of the subjects who were arrested, 36 were arrested for assault, 68 for weapon charges, two for sexual assault, five for failure to register, six for burglary, 53 for drug charges, 15 for robbery, three for vehicle theft, and 32 for other charges,” according to the U.S. Marshals.
In addition to the arrests, three missing children were found, and two stolen vehicles were recovered. According to the news release, 86 firearms, $821,774 worth of illegal drugs, and $48,902 in cash were seized.
The operation led to several notable arrests, including Maurice Coleman. He is an alleged Flat Land Blood gang member and is now charged with assault, robbery, resisting arrest, and weapon violations. A missing child was recovered during his arrest, and a firearm was seized.
Tommy Meyer, who had absconded on a warrant, was also apprehended. Jose and Pablo Morales were arrested on outstanding attempted murder warrants out of Virginia during the operation.
Other agencies involved in the operation included the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lancaster Sheriff’s Department.
