Kanye West is diving into the world of sports and has signed Antonio Brown as his first athlete.
Ye has molded several thriving companies, including his wildly successful Yeezy sneaker brand and G.O.O.D. Music record label. Now, the mogul has launched Donda Sports. Not your typical sports management agency, the company’s goal is to assist athletes with professional and wellness support “during and beyond” their careers.
Brown is the inaugural athlete to join the agency. Though his exact role is unknown, a press release said that Brown would be joining Ye and his trusted companion, Justin LaBoy, to provide an “athlete’s perspective to all aspects of the organization.”
One of Brown’s first lines of business seems to be bringing comfortable clothing to athletes. During a recent interview, he shared that he hopes Ye can assist with this push.
Brown’s next steps have been the topic of conversation after he abruptly left a game with former team Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month. He says that the head coach was forcing him to play with a hurt ankle, despite having knowledge of the injury.
The “Jesus Walks” star will also incorporate athletes from his Donda Academy into the organization. The Academy is home to some of Chicago’s top high school basketball prospects on a team he assembled called the Donda Doves. They will play their homecoming basketball game on February 5th at 5:30 p.m. at Chicago’s Credit Union 1 Arena.
