Reebok and rapper Anuel AA have teamed up for a limited-edition capsule collection.
“The Sky Above The Street,” which is Anuel’s first sneaker deal of any kind, was handcrafted by the Puerto Rican star. Inspired by the flag of his hometown, Carolina, the collection also captures the unconventional beauty of sun-faded outdoor basketball courts in the urban neighborhoods where Anuel grew up.
This latest collab, which will be released exclusively at Footlocker, consists of a black, red, and white Classic Leather starting at $100 and a Pump Omni Zone 2 in the same colorway priced at $170. The red on the shoe is distressed to appear slightly faded. In addition to the Reebok logo, the sneakers also spell out “Anuel” on the side and the back.
Anuel is excited to be connected to a brand that played such a key role in his adolescence before he amassed his wealth.
“I remember back then I used to want Jordans, I wanted Air Forces, and I didn’t have the money for any of that except for Reebok,” the 29-year-old told Complex, adding that when it came to designing his first shoe, there was no other sneaker company he wanted to work with.
Reebok has seen great success in recent years thanks to its high-profile partnerships with musicians. Their “Let Me Be…Enchanted” Collection presented by Cardi B has pumped life back into the athletic wear line, driving up sales to what was once considered a “dying brand.”
If you’d like to get your hands on Anuel’s “The Sky Above The Street” line, you can do so beginning Friday, August 26th.
