The attorney for Rogel Aguilera–Mederos, the truck driver who was sentenced on Monday to more than a century in prison for the 1-70 crash that killed 4, says an appeal is already in the works.
James Colgan said the appeal would not be based on the 110-year sentence, but on any errors that may have occurred during the trial.
Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was given the exorbitant 110-year sentence after being convicted of 27 counts for the fiery crash that happened in April 2019.
Mederos was convicted of vehicular homicide, assault and recklessness, partly due to bypassing a runaway truck ramp — instead swerving into traffic on I-70, killing 4 people.
