Apple Moves To Shut Down iTunes and Focus On Creating New Software Features

After nearly two decades, Apple plans to announce the end of iTunes at its Worldwide Developer Conference next week.

According to Bloomberg, Apple will launch a series of new apps for music, television, and podcasts to replace iTunes this year. Although iPhones and iPads already have existing apps, the shift will become the standard for Mac computers as well.

At the time of its introduction in 2001, iTunes revolutionized how consumers purchased and accessed entertainment. However, with the transition to streaming services, the use of iTunes for many Apple owners has become obsolete.

The conference, which is scheduled to begin on Monday in San Jose, California, will focus on new software features and showcase updates to current operating systems. Apparently, Apple won’t be unveiling any new devices until the fall.
