Companies are cracking down after Pro-Trump Supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
A social networking app, Parler, has been getting a lot of buzz lately after screenshots of Trump supporters began making their way on social media.
After receiving many complaints about the app, Apple has given Parler 24-hours to implement a full moderation plan of its platform, or they will be banned from the App Store.
Apple sent a letter to the company, which BuzzFeed News obtained, about complaints of using the platform to plan and coordinate the storming that took place on Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol.
“We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021, that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property. The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities.”
A few hours before Apple threatened to ban the app, Google Play removed the app from their store.
