Ah April Fools’ day…a day when the mischievous are out to get the unsuspecting and the unsuspecting get got. I don’t know about y’all but I’ve already gotten fooled several times today SMH. Well, some of your favorite football players, tennis stars, and sports anchors wanted to get in on the fun too and celebrated April Fools’ Day by pranking their family, friends, fans, and followers. So who got the last laugh, who needs to work on their sense of humor, and who failed miserably?
First up…Mr. Tom Brady. Remember last week when Tom Brady got the chance to play basketball with the GOAT? He wants you to know, don’t try and defend Michael Jordan on the court or you could end up in a hospital bed wearing a full body cast like him. He posted the above picture to Facebook with the caption “Jordan’s crossover is no joke!” He even drew MJ’s signature on his cast…clever and cute.
Greg Jennings, who was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings, got a head start on April Fools’ Day. The wide receiver, who is currently a free agent, began tweeting at 6 last night about the big announcement of which team he was going to sign with next, saying he would tell everyone at 10 pm. His fans eagerly awaited to find out where he was going to land, but when 10 finally rolled around, all he had to say was “April Fools!”.
Tennis pro Caroline Wozniacki decided that after her first-ever appearance in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue this past February, she’s found her true calling in life and wants to pursue TV and modeling full time.
She’s still letting the joke play out, but her agent says she won’t be retiring any time soon.
Then there’s Bruce Irvin, who thought it was a good idea to pretend that he got a DUI, giving all Seahawks fans heart attacks at the thought of their beloved linebacker possibly getting arrested.
Soon after, Bruce’s fans and followers went on full attack mode via social media and he realized maybe drunk driving wasn’t the best thing to joke about. He decided it was best to just log off for the rest of the day.
It’s okay, we’ll try this again next year, Bruce. And now for the win….
While packing lunch for her kids this morning, ESPN sports anchor Sage Steele decided to add a little extra “flavor” to these Oreos before putting them into her kids’ lunchboxes.
I’m sure her kids got a nice minty surprise when they bit into those Oreos at lunchtime.
There you have it, some of the best, worst, and most interesting pranks pulled off by sports figures this year. Remember, April Fools’ day is not over yet…so stay woke!
