Brother of Former NFL Player Aqib Talib Surrenders to Police in Connection to Fatal Shooting of Youth Football Coach [Video]

Police have arrested the man who was wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a youth football coach.
According to Lancaster Police, Yaqub Salik Talib, 39, turned himself in on a warrant for first-degree murder late on Monday morning at the Dallas County Jail.
Talib’s lawyer, Clark Birdsall, told NBC 5 that no bond has been set yet and that his client will likely meet with a magistrate late Monday.

“Mr. Talib regrets the tragic loss of life, and so he turned himself in today so that he would be able to say his side of the story,” Birdsall said.

On Saturday night, Talib was named a suspect in the death of youth football coach Mike Hickmon, who was fatally shot during a reported disagreement between opposing coaches and officials.

After receiving numerous complaints, dispatchers sent officers to Lancaster Community Park on Jefferson Street just before 9 o’clock.

During the investigation, Lancaster police learned that the opposing coaching staff was involved in a physical altercation and that one of the individuals pulled out a gun and fired a shot, hitting an adult male.
Lancaster Police later identified the person in question as Yaqub Talib, the sibling of the five-time Pro Bowler and former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib.

Hickmon was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after the shooting but was later pronounced dead.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Lancaster Police are interviewing several witnesses, including children, who were present during the incident.
