Former Arizona Cardinal, Kerry Rhodes, has been a free agent for a little while now and it seems with all of the scandal surrounding him that he wouldn’t find a new home with an NFL team any time soon. Word on the field is, that may change soon.
Rumor has it that the Giants are interested in signing Kerry and have invited him to workout with them this week. The workout was to take place on Tuesday but because workout details are not made public, we don’t know if Kerry actually showed.
Kerry finished his tenure in Arizona with an impressive four interceptions and 11 passes deflected. He forced a pair of fumbles and started 15 of 16 games in the highly-rated Cardinals defense last year. That’s a good reason for any team to want him, right?
Well, Kerry holding out for a bigger check may be the reason he’s still unsigned. The Cardinals, and other interested teams, have offered him $3 million and he turned down their offers. He’s also been living the celebrity lifestyle, partying, photoshoots, etc and when you’re over 30 years old, that can wear down on your ability to play ball.
Oh, then there are the gay rumors. Although teams may not say it, some teams may not want the publicity. Whether it be just that he’s gay or that he’s gay with a huge closet full of drama. Some teams may not want to deal with it.
We will see where Kerry Rhodes ends up and if he’s still got it. Let’s see if the Giants can put their money where their mouth is.
