Ariana Grande has so much respect for her exes that she sent each of them her latest single “Thank You, Next” before it was released.
In an interview with #Billboard, the pop star confirmed that Pete Davidson, in addition to Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez, were not going to be caught off guard by the “shout outs.” “I wasn’t going to blindside anybody,” she explained about her choice to send the song to her exes.
Ariana released her newest album #Sweetener in August and has gone through a lot since then, which gave her enough material to create another full album. The album was a form of therapy for Grande after breaking off her engagement to Pete Davidson and mourning the loss of ex-boyfriend #MacMiller, all within a two-month timeframe.
She said, “the album was born out of a lot of feminine energy and champagne and music and laughter and crying. This [album’s] not particularly uplifting. A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super sad chapter.”
