The man convicted of kidnapping, raping and holding Cleveland teens Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight captive was found hanging in his jail cell, sources say.
Castro, who pleaded guilty to 937 criminal counts of rape, kidnapping, and aggravated murder, was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole, plus 1,000 years on July 26th. For his own protection, Castro was not housed with general population.
After doing just over a month of his sentence, Castro was found hanging in his prison cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. Castro was found around 9:20pm and pronounced dead at 10:52pm. He was 53 years old.
