Students at Arizona State University are calling for accused domestic terrorist Kyle Rittenhouse to be removed from the school’s campus.
This month, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges after he argued that he acted in self-defense when the Illinois resident fatally shot two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Now, groups of students at ASU are demanding that he be banished from the school for being a “racist murderer.” The teen reportedly attends the school through online courses, 12 News reports.
On Wednesday (Dec. 1), “Students for Socialism” will “rally against racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse being permitted on our campus,” the group wrote in a tweet.
“Even with a not-guilty verdict from a flawed ‘justice’ system – Kyle Rittenhouse is still guilty to his victims and the families of those victims. Join us to demand from ASU that those demands be met to protect students from a violent blood-thirsty murderer,” a statement from the group of students reads.
The statement was also posted to Facebook for ASU’s “Students for Justice in Palestine.” There, students outlined a list of “demands,” NBC 15 News reports. The demands include: “Withdraw Kyle Rittenhouse from ASU,” “Release a statement against White Supremacy & racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse,” “Reaffirm support for the multicultural center on campus as a space safe from White Supremacy” and “Redirect funding from the ASU PD [campus police] to support the multicultural center and establishment of a care center on campus.”
“The goal of these demands is to let the ASU administration know that we as the ASU community do not feel safe knowing that a mass shooter, who has expressed violent intentions about ‘protecting property’ over people, is so carelessly allowed to be admitted to the school at all,” said a spokesperson for the group in an interview with Fox News. “Our campus is already unsafe as is, and we would like to abate this danger as much as possible.”
More and more student groups on the campus are joining in on the movement, including the Multicultural Solidarity Coalition and MECHA de ASU.
