More details are coming out regarding the Glendale, Arizona high school shooting last week.
You may recall, two 15 year old girls were found shot dead at Independence High School in Glendale, AZ. According to the police investigation, it was an apparent murder-suicide and the girls may have been involved in a relationship. One of the girls was identified by her older sister, who also teaches at the school. It is said that the other young girl, who police are not naming due to her being a minor, allegedly got the gun used in the shooting, from another classmate.
Investigators say on Thursday, the shooter asked a fellow classmate for a gun, saying that she needed it for protection. “The classmate provided her a family-owned handgun, from his home, without the permission or knowledge of his parents,” Glendale Police Sgt. David Vidaure says in the statement, adding that the boy is cooperating with detectives, and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office “will review his involvement in the matter.”
On Friday, she took the gun to school, shooting her friend and then herself, in an outside patio area near the cafeteria. Vidaure says that after several interviews, they have come to the conclusion that the two girls were in “an intimate relationship.” Social media indicated that the two had been dating for two years.
