A gunman has been arrested and charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition near the official D.C. residence of Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to TMZ, the 31-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, identified as Paul Murray, was taken into custody not far from Harris’ D.C. home on the Naval Observatory grounds, which is currently undergoing renovations.
Agents stopped the man around 1 PM ET near the Naval Observatory, which is the traditional Vice President’s mansion. Cops said they found a firearm, a bunch of ammo, and several gun clips with ammo in Murray’s car, which was parked in a D.C. garage.
“MPD members arrested and charged 31-year-old Paul Murray, of San Antonio, TX, for Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun Outside of a Business, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. A rifle and ammunition were recovered from the subject’s vehicle,” the MPD spokesperson said.
