For weeks, Donald Trump and his Celebrity Apprentice successor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, have been on the outs, trading insults regarding the rate of their success, or lack thereof, in their respective fields of work.
It all started with the former reality star turned Head of State using his platform at the National Prayer Breakfast to criticize Schwarzenegger for the show’s drop in viewers. In turn, Schwarzenegger fired back with criticisms of his own, about Trump’s struggles as president. However, the firestorm between the two didn’t end there. Just last week, Schwarzenegger announced his resignation as host of The Celebrity Apprentice, to which Trump fired back without evidence, that the former governor of California was not leaving on his own free will, but he had been fired.
“Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to a great show,” Trump said of the show, in which he still retains executive producer credit.
Now, after weeks of back and forth between the two, Schwarzenegger has revealed the reasoning behind Trump’s frequent attacks. Apparently, there’s a bromance brewing.
On Tuesday, the actor spoke with Michael Smerconish of SirusXM’s “The Michael Smerconish Program” to discuss American politics and Trump’s alleged obsession with criticizing him online.
“Why does he keep talking about you through his Twitter feed?” Smerconish asked, to which the former governor of California responded, “I think he’s in love with me.”
The two joked about Schwarzenegger’s new theory, adding that there has been a “long relationship” between the actor and the president.
