Arrest Warrant Issued For Former NFL Player Earl Thomas

An arrest warrant was issued at the end of April for former NFL star Earl Thomas in connection to threatening text messages to his estranged wife.

Thomas, 33, is facing third-degree felony charges for violating the order of protection two or more times within a 12-month period. The former University of Texas star has not yet been booked for the charges.

Fox News reports that the texts were sent to his estranged wife regarding seeing their children. But Thomas allegedly violated a protective order issued in May of 2021 that limited his contact with the woman to a co-parenting app. The woman told authorities that Thomas refused to download the app.

In mid-April, he began sending threatening texts. He reportedly told the woman he obtained two handguns and hoped she and the kids “drive off the road.”

He also threatened to let his mom and cousins “poison they *ass,” referring to the children.

His lawyer denies any wrongdoing.

The messages were sent before Thomas notified ESPN reporter Adam Schefter about his desire to return to the NFL. Schefter sent out a tweet that the former player expressed a desire to return to the league.

Former seven-time Pro-Bowl safety Earl Thomas, who last played for Baltimore in 2019 and who turns 33 in May, said today that he wants to resume his NFL career this season. “I’m ready,” Thomas texted. “I’m in shape. My timing is on point – I’m proud of that.”

Thomas last played football in 2019. He appeared in 15 games for the Baltimore Ravens.
