Police have made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of Jacqueline Avant, the wife of legendary music executive Clarence Avant.
Beverly Hills Police Department identified the suspect as 29-year-old Aariel Maynor during a Thursday press conference.
Cops say Maynor’s car was seen on surveillance fleeing eastbound from Beverly Hills shortly after Jacqueline was shot. One hour later, a shooting was reported in the Hollywood Hills where LAPD responded and found Maynor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot at a home he was allegedly burglarizing. He was then arrested. Beverly Hills PD worked with LAPD to find evidence connecting him to the shooting at the Avant’s home.
During Thursday’s press conference, authorities revealed Maynor was armed with an AR-15 during the break-in. The suspect also has and lengthy criminal history dating back to 2013 and was on parole.
As previously reported, Jacquline Avant was shot and killed early Wednesday morning when the intruder entered the Beverly Hills home she shared with husband, Clarence Avant.
Clarence was not harmed in the home invasion.
